ASSESSMENT OF FARMERS’ PERCEPTIONS CONCERNING POTATO FARMING SYSTEMS IN NORTH WESTERN ETHIOPIA

Aim of the study Assessing perception north western Ethiopia farmers’ on role potato in farming system Material and methods: Elders with different socioeconomic back grounds experience production were used for this study. A proportional allocation formula was employed. Data collected from both primary secondary sources. Primary sources data collected. The questionnaire constituted open ended questions to allow full expression about issue. Discussions made farmers, agricultural extension officers, researchers, experts. All sets subjected Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS), Version 24 computer software (20) descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation frequency analyze data. Class intervals age, education level, family size, etc. Results conclusions: survey also revealed that farmers use soil fertility management, had their own local varieties variety preferences. They losing which quality attributes be breeding/agronomy programmes best fit degraded lands. More ploughing causes nutrient erosion. there traditional techniques management like terracing, fertilization crop rotation mainly potato. Farmers surveyed area believed can ameliorate protect soils Researches should conducted minimize number production.
